Here it goes again

YOU GUYS

30X30 IS BACK!

Dani, Sarah and I got bit by the bug again, so we're doing it. It's my fourth 30x30 and I'm going to be trying to finish before the holidays, so expect some days with two posts. Also, since it's my fourth, I might be shaking things up a bit...

curiosu to join, but wondering what 30x30 is? The plan is to take 30 items in your closet, and wear only those items for 30 outfits. Not all at once, mind you. (Though that would be very warm.) Kendi's original 30x30 involved shoes as part of the picks, but Dani, Sarah and I prefer to consider shoes as accessories, which don't count toward the final total. Coats, necklaces, scarves, mittens, tights, camisoles...none of this stuff counts toward the 30 items you wear. Skirts, cardigans, pants, sweaters? Part of the 30. Got it? Good.

I also want to stress that you can take your time. I'm rushing through this 30 because I'll be living out of a suitcase for half of January (more on that later!), and I don't want to not get done until February. But really? There's actually nothing wrong with that. It's the holidays, we're all crazy busy, and btw did you guys know it's also finals time? Oy, why are we doing this again right now?

Because we got bit by the bug. That's why.

So tomorrow, keep an eye out for my picks, as well as those of Dani and Sarah, and then we'll have liftoff!

Warmth

Sweater: gift from parents | Skirt: Banana Republic Outlet | Tights: Target | Wedges: Target

By far the best thing about a turtleneck is when you first put it on. You pull it over your head, and it basically cocoons you. Your face, your hair, your neck. It's like a burrito for your upper body. You're cozy, soft, warm, safe. You feel the heat radiating off your face and onto your sweater and back, and it feels like bliss.

And then you have to pull your hair out and peel the neck off your face so you can breathe for crying out loud it is so humid in here, and just like that, the magic is gone.

Until next time, turtleneck. Until next time.

Tanbark

Necklace: JCPenney | Sweater: J.Crew | Top: JCPenney | Skirt: JCPenney | Tights: We Love Colors | Flats: Gap Outlet

Here are some very tan pictures of a rather tan outfit. Don't expect this hallway thing to become the norm--gross and tan, you guys--but I didn't have time today to do outfit photos in plain daylight, and the parking garage is stuffed because of a holiday thing in downtown Cardiganland. Tomorrow: normal outfit? Normal lighting?! stay tuned

Tonguing it

Sweater: Target | Skirt: Ann Taylor Factory Store | Tights: Target | Wedges: Shoe Carnival

In case you were wondering, this is what your face looks like when you are prodding a canker sore inside your mouth with your tongue.

Because you know you do it too.

Ugh, I just really grossed myself out by Googling "canker sores"

Just a moment's peace

This guy locked himself in the dog crate. Happy Thanksgiving indeed.

No sling attached

Top: Target | Dress: Gap Outlet | Belt: JCPenney | Boots: Target | Lips: Cover Girl Lip Perfection Embrace over Maybelline ColorSensational Plum Perfect | Nails: butter London Sprog | Flower: late season hydrangea

The only thing missing from this post is the sling I acquired after separating my shoulder. While taking off my coat. Yeah, that happened. You have no idea how difficult it was to get this clothing on/off, and I'm not gonna lie, this dress was not zippered all the way in the back. But hell, everything still looks put together. Slings are not fun to wear and less fun to take outfit photos with, so I did a totally casual limp-right-arm look instead. I think it worked.

Style Imitating Art: The Great War

It's Style Imitating Art time! Yessss. This week's inspiration was The Great War by René Magritte. Awesome stuff. Let's see the submissions!

First is Dawn of Suitcase Vignettes. She told me to pick between the two photos but I liked them both, so here they are!

Next is Jen of Librarian for Life Style, who said her outfit could compare to Son of Man as well. I AGREE!

Rebekah of From the Mixed-Up Files... has an awesome purple/white/purple combo going. Perfect fall outfit.

Next is Stephanie, who's new to SIA! And she looks great--I adore the scarf.

Here is Noelle of Tilly's Notions' interpretation. The lace! I have no lace in my wardrobe so I'm really glad someone else did!

Next is Kezzie of KezzieAG, who has such a lovely, flowy dress. So pretty.

As always, Pao of Project Minima looks almost exactly like the painting! Epic.

Lastly, my cohost and cocreator, Salazar of 14 Shades of Grey, who always kills it. Doesn't she look lovely?

And me! My full outfit post will be up later tonight.

EDIT: Teddi sent in a late submission! She thinks she looks like a taxi driver, but I think she looks awesome!

Thank you to everyone who submitted outfits this week! You all did a great job with the inspiration!

Oh, behave

Necklace: Target | Sweater: J.Crew | Skirt: Target | Tights: Target | Heels: Urban Outfitters | Nails: butter London Shag

A woman stopped me on my way into work today to compliment me on "the efficiency of (my) outfit selection". And then said she had been watching Austin Powers that morning and my outfit reminded her of that. In a good way.

I have reached the pinnacle of style blogging, ladies and gentlemen.

Unstrapped

Cardigan: TJ Maxx | Shirt: Anthropologie | Skirt: Talbots | Tights: JCPenney? | Heels: Urban Outfitters

I had a really horrible week last week. Yoga three times in a week kind of bad. Get a tattoo so for 45 minutes the only thing I can think about is physical pain kind of bad. So I got it together and refocused. Tattoo is healing well (aside from wearing only strapless bras), I've eaten Raisinets, and I saw Seven Psychopaths. (No really, it was hilarious.) Time to rock and roll again.
